Allplan announces update of its data management platform Bimplus
Improved functions for handling BIM models as well as document management and integration of guest viewers
Munich, May 26 – As of today, ALLPLAN, global provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, presents an update of its cloud-based data management and collaboration platform Bimplus. The latest release offers a wide range of new and improved functions for handling BIM models, as well as clear document management and the integration of guest viewers which provides a truly digital environment for model collaboration.
“Having all the information right at your fingertips within the model, while retaining an overview in Bimplus, significantly improves response to issues. There is no longer a need to search for an email or document that lists what needs changing, as everyone can view the progress of each activity in the issue manager. It is all about working smarter. Once again, we are delighted to bring the latest cloud technology to our clients”, says Nigel Rees, Product Director Cloud Services at ALLPLAN.
AT A GLANCE – Bimplus offers the following new benefits:
New and improved measuring toolkit
Providing a wide set of measurement tools within Bimplus provides a truly digital environment for model collaboration that allows accuracy checks and the ability to push any errors back to project teams prior to construction. In the post construction phase these tools can also be used in conjunction with the issue manager to develop punch lists for review and action. Simple toolsets such as this can have a positive environmental effect – the more one can do and store on a digital platform then the less drawings that need to be printed out.
Improved interaction and association of documents
Enhancing the document management tools within Bimplus means that project partners are able to effectively store and associate documentation with the model itself. The versioning for documents is now part of the approvals process which means that documents living within the project can now be part of the change management process.
BIM Explorer enhancements
The performance of the BIM Explorer has been improved with the latest update resulting in the reduction of data size stored internally and quicker presentation times of the model itself. As well as this it has allowed the improvement of the rendering of models with the inclusion of an Ambient Occlusion function – this sharpens up the scene and provides some shading functionality to present a more realistic feel to the model.
Bimplus Guest Viewers
Bimplus now contains the ability for team admins to invite guest viewers into the projects to allow more accessibility and visibility. A guest viewer is someone that is able to see data within a project they have been given permission to view. A viewer is provided with access to the BIM Explorer component and visibility of the model itself, the issues and the documentation. Providing guest viewers within Bimplus offers a wider footprint for collaboration.
